Study of pressure drop for perforated plates and TAD-fabrics

The aim of this paper was to study the relationship between pressure drop and superficial velocity for fabrics used in Through Air Drying and also for perforated plates. Experiments were performed to measure this relationship and the experimental data was then compared to different theoretical models. It was hard to get good agreement between the models and the experimental data for the perforated plate but for the fabrics the prediction of the theoretical models gave a good agreement with the experiments. The experiments also showed that at velocities above 3.5 m/s a linear model is not suitable to estimate the pressure drop for a given velocity.
